Smarter Writing

How to Write A Good SEO Article

How to Write Good SEO Article Let your voice shine through your work; if you're funny, generously sprinkle that humor all over your content.

If you want to a bigger blog audience, your content must be smarter.

One big problem bloggers face is coming up with fresh content that readers and search engines can benefit from. In fact, SEO is often greatly misunderstood despite its general simplicity; as long as you keep readers in mind first, it’s not too complicated to write good, SEO-friendly articles.

All articles written on your website should be compelling and informative, clearly addressing hot topics in your industry, but it must also be visible in the search engines; the best information in the world doesn’t matter if it lurks in some corner that search engines can’t find, especially Google. When your site is well optimized and there’s a strategy in place then all content you upload will lead you to your target market. How else can you build your traffic without them?

What is a Good SEO Article?

Before putting the proverbial pen to paper, or fingers to a keyboard, consider the art of story telling, one who can weave a desire to want, whether it’s about a painful experience that was resolved, or a product that did more than you expected. The ability to grab your reader’s attention is key here. Giving them something to identify with is your ultimate goal.

Think about the last time you read a great article. It didn’t necessarily make you buy the product, but what it probably did do, was make you feel confident about that product. You have to establish this basic emotion in your readers. Creating the A.I.D.A. factor, that emotional connection people make to a certain thought, product or service. You have to connect with them in an intimate fashion, wake something in them, the desire for them to discuss at the next meeting, lunch, or hang out session. Articles shouldn’t be about selling to your audience, rather it should be to entertain educate inform and ultimately seducing them to your point of view. Keeping their attention by generating interest is the ultimate goal. You have to create the desire from those readers to not only want more information, but to open a conversation. You see one or a hundred articles aren’t going to sell your product, you are going to sell your product.

Let your voice shine through your work; if you’re funny, generously sprinkle that humor all over your content. Whatever your natural voice is, let it work for you as you write to your audience. Remember that the blog isn’t a personal diary, so keep out the jargon when writing to a large audience. Break down lengthier articles into digestible ideas. This is where the art of SEO writing comes into play.

Using SEO to Dominate

Everyone knows what happens when you search for something on the Internet; the results appear in a variety of positions. Obviously you want your site to be as high up in the search results as possible. I don’t need to remind you that 80+% of the English-speaking world searches on Google, therefore keep that in mind when trying to identify what and how to follow SEO standards. That’s not to say that Bing or Yahoo are going to be vastly different but I can assure you they do serve up results for queries differently. What may show up on page 1 in Bing may not even be on Google’s radar, or visa versa. But in a nutshell ethical SEO has basic standards to follow.

Well-placed, primary keywords in your articles are an excellent way to show up in the search engines. However, remember now that you have those readers on your page, don’t give them crap to read. You can’t just stuff keywords everywhere; place them in titles and subtitles, developing a hierarchy of most important keywords and related phrases. Titles should contain the most important keywords on the list.

Adding pictures with alt text is another excellent way to drive traffic to your articles; images are known to dynamically break apart content and are still visible by search engines with alt text tags. Therefore if you follow the basic guidelines of SEO standards, you have more than enough to continue the process.

How Can You Improve Today?

The actual meat of your article is one of the most important parts of SEO writing. The primary reason that people enter searches on the Internet is to find information useful to answering their question. Search engines love new content, which is why you need to maintain regular updates.

Here are some tips you can do today in order to get on track and stay there.

So what does create great content mean especially in light of all the different updates and articles you read out there? The main factor I would bring to the table is Google’s Panda 4.1 update, this was released in an effort to penalize shallow content. Therefore a typical article should be at least 600 words, though this is not the only factor; before getting started with a new article, be sure you fully understand your readers and the topic. As I’ve stated above bring the A.I.D.A. factor into play. These four elements need to be at the helm.

Awareness – You must bring awareness to your brand. This includes guest posts, PPC, and YouTube videos anything that is created from your efforts.

Interest – There has to be interest in you and your product. Any pages a visitor will see the first time they visit your site. Regardless of whether it’s a specific PPC campaign or a lead generation drive. Include links to a specific landing page, geared for that video or post.

Desire – The desire to want is not as difficult as you might imagine. You have to create this desire in your content. The best way is to answer the questions, “How is this helping me?” and “Should I buy this from you or other guy?

Action – Test, rinse, repeat, it’s about finding the perfect mix. This is one of the most important factors. CTA Call to action: Free Shipping, Buy Today, Buy one Get two for free etc.

Keeping these tips in mind whenever you write new articles for your website will help you generate a much stronger SEO ranking. Not only that, but your growing audience will continue to see your dedication and expertise in the field, which helps improve your own business. It’s a win-win situation for everyone.
