Top Tools to Help Your Content Reach Your Target Audience

Want to make sure that your content reaches your target audience and gets the most exposure possible? If so, then you will need to put these tools in your arsenals and on your website. They will ensure that your content is properly optimized to reach the masses.

Keyword Research Tools

If you want your target audience to find your content through search engines, then you will need to make sure your content is properly keyword optimized. On top of that, you want it to be a keyword phrase that is searched often by your target audience. Simply enter a few starting ideas into tools like Google AdWords Keyword Tool to find the best phrases to optimize your content for. Make sure this phrase is in the title, meta description, and the content itself for best results.

There are lots of sites that link to great content. If you use backlink research tools like Open Site Explorer, Majestic SEO, or CognitiveSEO, you can research the backlinks of similar pieces of content to discover sites that will be willing to link to yours. Focus your efforts on sites that get a good bit of traffic in your industry in order to maximize click through traffic.

Social Sharing Buttons

Help your target audience spread the word about your content to an even larger audience by adding social sharing buttons to your content. This way, you let visitors know that yes, you do want them to share your content on specific networks like Twitter, Facebook, Google+, LinkedIn, and Pinterest. Plugins that work across multiple platforms like WordPress, Blogger, and Tumblr include AddThis and ShareThis.

Social Advertising

When you have a piece of content that you must get into the right hands, consider social advertising. Facebook Advertising is usually best – you can use the Boost Post option on your Facebook page when you post a link to your content on your wall. This will allow you to quickly promote your update, or you can use Sponsored Stories to target the ad to specific demographics.

Another good one for traffic generation is StumbleUpon Paid Discovery. StumbleUpon is well-known for driving large quantities of traffic. You can use their paid advertising to show your content to StumbleUpon users based on their interests.

Twitter has just recently started to offer targeted advertising based on followers of a specific user. So if you want to get exposure for your content, find a Twitter user whose audience would be interested in it, and target your ad towards their followers.

Social Media Management Tools

There are lots of social media management tools that can help you schedule your social media updates. This way, you can make sure that your content is posted at the optimal time for your target audience without you having to be online when it needs to go live. These tools include Buffer, HootSuite, and SocialOomph.

Google Alerts

Last, but not least, you will want to keep delivering your best content to the right audience. By creating Google Alerts for questions that your target audience are asking, you can be ready to give them your quality content when they want it.

For example, let’s say you have a list of the top five SEO tools for link building. You could create a few variations of alerts that will let you know when someone asks about the best link building tools on forums, Q&A networks, and other places online. Then, when you see the question popup in your Google Alerts, you can give your content link as the answer.

What tools do you use to make sure your content reaches its intended audience?
