Honoring Women Wednesday – Meet Isaline Muelhauser

It's time for us to meet another Honoring Women Wednesday, Isaline Muelhauser.

I’ve had the pleasure of seeing & following Isaline Muelhauser on Twitter and Women in Tech SEO. As an SEO consultant and the owner of Pilea.ch, she helps clients visibility in French-speaking audiences. She speaks English and German, which allows her to work with a variety of international companies. Isaline lives in an area between Geneva Lake—also known as Leman Lake—and the Alps. She’s an endurance sports person who likes to swim and bike at sunrise.

What’s your personal elevator pitch? What should we know about who you are and what you do?

I’m an international SEO consultant specializing in localization. If your company wants to reach a French-speaking market, that’s me! ???? I work especially in the B2C finance and insurance industry, sports industry, and B2B construction industry.

I have a deep understanding of the French language, user experience, and SEO. I know how to develop a brand’s relation to their customer and a brand’s positioning and visibility in the SERPs at each stage of the customer journey. I’ve been in my client’s shoes – I previously worked in Corporate Communication and Digital Marketing – I understand their needs and challenges. I’ve in-depth experience within multilingual market growth (such as Switzerland) and an understanding of multilingual and multidisciplinary governance challenges,

Today I have a healthy mix of clients from big corporations to local businesses whom I help connect the business needs and goals with SEO actions to make SEO efforts impactful.

Which social media platform is your jam? How do you share your industry knowledge with your audience?

I use Twitter to connect with people internationally and LinkedIn for a local audience. Slack with the Women in Tech SEO community is a social channel to me, I connect and help others in this safe space. I’m thankful for the many wonderfully smart humans I met there.

I speak at conferences, preferably smaller size and local, meant for business owners, development teams, and PR specialists. I aim at showing other professionals the opportunities of SEO blended into their activity. I feel uncomfortable in a crowd, plus I avoid taking planes for environmental reasons. There is little chance you will see me at a big conference. I like connecting with people 1o1.

We’d love to know more about the personal you. What area of the world do you live in, or want to live in; what are some of your quirks; what fuels your fire?

I live in Lausanne, French-speaking Switzerland. I’m a first-generation graduate. My dad is brilliant, he did not go to high school because it was too expensive. My mum used to say “Many things will happen in your life, but there is one thing that nobody can ever take from you, that is your education.” For my parents, education ranged from having good manners at a table, saying proper hellos and thank yous to getting a university degree.

It takes longer to reach your goals when you don’t have the same opportunity. I can’t change anyone’s environment or completely understand one’s reality. But I can be thankful for what I have and give back. Today I want to give back either by giving people motivation and inspiration or by helping businesses and projects be visible. ????Listen to the first WorkinSEOPodcast to know more about this.

Is there any advice that you would share with women who are trying to build a career in the marketing industry?

Be aware of your triggers and motivation to learn how to properly take care of yourself mentally and physically. You got this. There are 100 pieces of advice on the internet on what to do and how. Test and try what works for you. Ah and don’t listen to people saying there is only 1 way to happiness or success. Success and happiness are what ring right for you.
