Meeting Olesia Korobka

Honoring Women Wednesday- Meet Olesia Korobka

Today we meet Olesia, a Ukrainian SEO entrepreneur, who lives in Kyiv, and works with international clients.

I have had the pleasure of meeting Olesia virtually. She’s charming, wicked smart and extremely courageous. As an SEO entrepreneur who was born in Kyiv, Ukraine, and works for international clients, it’s always an interesting topic to my ears. Lucky for her, she meets awesome people wherever she goes and knows a lot of them. As they say, you are who you surround yourself with.

What’s your personal elevator pitch? What should we know about who you are and what you do?

I love technical SEO and research, digging into how it all works and how a project can benefit from what I know. Despite my hands-on practical stuff and actual business profit, I like to go deeper and understand how that happens and all the why’s when possible. Love challenges and difficulties, everything innovative and out of the ordinary. Because in those cases achieving a result is not only paying off but also makes me feel better.

Which social media platform is your jam? How do you share your industry knowledge with your audience?

I am a fan of open source and free professional stuff. The information and education should be accessible to anyone without limits. Previously, I used several YouTube channels, Telegram groups, and a channel of my own & SEObox, and almost all the content was in Russian. Not any more. Now I’m gradually creating content only in Ukrainian and English. Therefore, will be adding more to my YT channel and website.

We’d love to know more about the personal you. What area of the world do you live in or want to live in; what are some of your quirks; what fuels your fire?

I happen to live in one of the best cities in the world — Kyiv, Ukraine (I’ve mentioned I’m fortunate). Blue bee is my spirit animal, and they seem to appear almost everywhere I go to live for a longer time. And it’s always a sign that I’m on the right path in my life. I do enjoy being around awesome people. And I’m missing Bill Slawski. I think he’s an irreplaceable loss in all meanings.

Is there any advice that you would share with women who are trying to build a career in the marketing industry?

Whenever it comes to a career, I’d rather forget the gender and focus on the professional. Of course, some people face specific challenges being a woman, but thanks to our female predecessors, we’ve got a much easier life. Especially within the SEO industry, where nobody cares who you are unless you provide excellent results. Thus, doing something efficient in terms of ROI regarding SEO will help a lot.

However, if you want to grow vertically more than horizontally, don’t make my mistake. Please don’t do a lot of SEO all by yourself, delegate whenever possible and learn to work with people more and allow them to grow professionally. Otherwise, you’ll be stuck in lots of SEO tasks where you are the only one who knows how to do that fast and achieve great results but nobody else. And you’ll be doing that over and over again and never grow. Try to understand as quickly as possible how you would like to extend and what personal goals you want to achieve, and pick any path you like. Both are open to women of today.

Tell us where we can find you online and include information about any specific project that you are building and want people to know about.

People can find me on Linkedin or Twitter.
