Influencer Marketing

What is Influencer Marketing?

Influencer marketing? I know; right about the time you think you have this marketing stuff down pat, we come at you with yet another marketing term, yet another angle. However, if you want to skyrocket the success of your online business, you always have to be on the lookout for new ways to reach a larger audience.

Many people use pay-per-click ads, search engine optimization and more. No problem with that but, if you knew of a way to jump start a campaign, or bring in more potential customers with a campaign, wouldn’t you want to at least consider it?

And listen: if you use social media, if you use content marketing, then you’re only a step away from influencer marketing. It’s literally the next step in the evolution of a marketing campaign.

So what is an influencer, and what do they have to do with your marketing campaign?

A market influencer is someone who has a large following on social media, and is likely to be interested in your products or services. This could be because they genuinely like your product, or it could be because they genuinely like you; either can bring big benefits.

A single mention from one of these people is enough to drive an outrageous amount of traffic to your website, but that’s not even the best part. Consider how much people trust their friends’ recommendations; the best ad copy in the world can’t come close to that level of persuasion.

When people follow an influencer on social media, they often trust them as much as they would a close friend. So, getting one of them to recommend your products or services will instantly build credibility with a large audience. You might be feeling as though getting such a mention is out of reach, but it’s not, and you can start taking advantage of this untapped traffic source today.

Pay for Mentions

One of the quickest ways to get an influencer to mention your product or service is to pay them, but you must do so gracefully. For the best results, try to get connected with someone who knows the influencer in whom you are interested and try to get a referral. If that is not possible, then try to build a relationship with them before pitching your offer. Message the influencer and compliment them on something that you appreciate.

Once you’ve built a relationship, talk to them about the product or service you want them to promote. No matter how much you pay them, most influencers will only promote your business if they feel as though it will help their followers, so talk about the benefits you can provide. If they seem interested in what you have to offer, it’s time to start talking about pricing.

Inspire Them to Share Your Content

If you don’t want to pay for a mention, you can attempt to inspire an influencer to share your content, but doing so will take a bit longer. Start by following them and offering high-quality comments on their posts. Also, make yourself appear helpful by interacting with their followers and by answering questions.

Before you contact them about your content, wait for them to reply to your comments so they know who you are. You must now message the influencer and establish a line of communication. Finally, inform them of one of your articles or blog posts that you believe could be useful to their followers. If everything goes as planned, they will decide to share your content and you will get a nice boost in traffic and credibility.

Persistence

The Importance of Persistence

When you get started with influencer marketing, you need to know what to expect. Not everyone whom you contact will be interested in sharing your content, and it’s nothing personal. Getting turned down is simply a part of the process, but if you remain persistent in your effort, you will eventually reach your goal. When you find someone who is willing to share your content, the rewards will justify your dedication.

Quick Note

Don’t EVER solicit an influencer. You don’t go to someone you don’t know and ask to use their connections that they’ve worked hard for before they even know your name. This can be marketing suicide if you do this to the wrong influencer.

Final Thoughts

Influencer marketing is currently an untapped source of traffic, but it will not stay that way forever. If you want to enjoy the benefits of this incredible marketing outlet, then now is the time to take action. Start taking small steps each day that will move you closer to your desired outcome, and don’t miss your opportunity to take advantage of this little-known goldmine.
