A/B testing is a marketing method where two nearly identical versions of a webpage, email, or ad are shown to different audience segments. One difference is tested between the two pieces at a time, such as a call-to-action button color, headline wording, or choice of image. Click-through rates, conversions, bounce rates, and more are measured to determine which version performs better. Through small, deliberate changes like these, your marketing and optimization campaigns will always be improving.

A/B testing is a classic method of conversion optimization, and is a very simple method of improvement. However, there are more complex versions, such as multivariate testing and multi-armed bandit testing.
